Full Statement of Beliefs

Glory Gather is a community for Christians in the music industry. We are rooted in historic, orthodox Christian faith and interdenominational in fellowship. We gather across traditions, cultures, and expressions of the faith, united by what has always united the Church: the person and work of Jesus Christ.

The ancient Church father Augustine offers a framework that has guided God’s people across centuries: “In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, liberty. In everything, love.”

There exist essential teachings within Scripture that the Church must be united on if the people are to experience the life of God in the family of God. These are the beliefs that have defined the Christian faith across every century, culture, and tradition. This statement reflects what we hold in common. It is not a barrier to belonging but the foundation on which we build.

In areas where sincere followers of Jesus have held differing views, we seek to hold our convictions with humility, extend grace generously, and pursue unity above uniformity. In everything, love.

PART ONE: ESSENTIAL BELIEFS

The following beliefs are the non-negotiable core of the Christian faith. They are not uniquely Glory Gather’s; they are the inheritance of the whole Church across every age. We hold them together, without revision.

1. Scripture

We believe the Bible, comprising both the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God. God guided its authors by His Spirit so that what they wrote was what He wanted His people to hear. Scripture is the final standard for all matters of faith, doctrine, and life. It is sufficient to equip believers for every good work, and every question of belief and practice begins here.

2. The Gospel

The Gospel is the announcement that God has not abandoned His broken world. Through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God has acted decisively in history to rescue humanity from sin, defeat death, and begin the renewal of all creation. This is not merely good advice or a moral framework. It is good news. It is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes. The Gospel is both the foundation of personal salvation and the blueprint for a new humanity. It is the message at the center of everything we do.

3. Humanity

We believe God created human beings, male and female, in His own image (Genesis 1:26–27). This means every person possesses inherent dignity, worth, and value. Human beings are not accidents of nature but the intentional creation of a personal God, made to know Him, reflect Him, and steward His world together. The image of God in humanity is the foundation of human dignity and the reason every person matters. It is also the source of the creativity, artistry, and longing for beauty that characterizes the people who make up this community.

4. The Fall

We believe that humanity, through the choice of our Adam and Eve, turned away from God in disobedience, which the Scriptures call the Fall (Genesis 3). The consequences were catastrophic and universal: sin entered creation, the relationship between God and humanity was broken, and death became the inheritance of all people. We are not as we were made to be. The disorder we experience within ourselves, between each other, and in the world is not God’s design but sin’s distortion. The Fall is not the final word, but it is the honest diagnosis. It is why the Gospel is necessary.

5. God’s Redemption of His People

We believe that from the moment sin entered creation, God set in motion a plan of redemption. He called a people, beginning with Abraham and Sarah, through whom He would bless the entire world. The story of Israel is the story of a God who pursues, rescues, and remains faithful even when his people are not. This redemptive arc reaches its fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Every promise, every covenant, every sacrifice points forward to Him. God’s redemption is not an afterthought; it is the spine of the entire Biblical story. The same God who said, “let there be light,” is the God who entered his broken world to make all things new.

6. Jesus Christ

We believe in the full deity and full humanity of Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God who took on flesh and was born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, proclaimed the Kingdom of God, and died on the cross as the atoning sacrifice for the sins of all who believe. By His sacrifice, Jesus bore in our place the punishment due to us for our sins, making full and proper satisfaction of God’s justice on our behalf. By His perfect obedience, He fulfilled the just demands of God in our place. He rose bodily from the dead on the third day, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return in glory to judge the living and the dead. There is salvation in no one else. He is Lord over all.

7. Salvation

Salvation is the word we use to describe how a person experiences the transformative power of the Gospel, which is God’s way of dealing with what is wrong with the world and with us. The Scriptures reveal that salvation is not merely a past event but a present reality and a future hope. It has happened, is happening, and will happen to those who believe.

Salvation: Past

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith. And this is not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8–9) Salvation is something already accomplished for us by God. It is a finished work, grounded in Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross. By faith alone, through grace alone, God credits Christ’s perfect obedience to all who trust in Jesus for salvation. This is not earned or maintained by human effort. It is received as a gift.

Salvation: Present

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18) Salvation is also something presently underway. The risen Jesus, by his Spirit, is at work within every believer, cleansing, transforming, and conforming us to his likeness. God has not abandoned us. The Holy Spirit is God with us, actively making real in our lives what is already true of us in Christ.

Salvation: Future

The one who endures to the end will be saved. (Matthew 24:13) Salvation is also a future hope. Our salvation is assured the moment we enter into genuine relationship with God through faith in Christ, and yet by the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit, we are being made in reality what we already are by faith: daughters and sons of God. Death does not have the final word. Even as our bodies deteriorate, we are being renewed from within. Therefore we do not lose heart. (2 Corinthians 4:16)

8. The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is fully God, the third person of the Trinity, who convicts the world of sin, regenerates believers at conversion, and dwells within every follower of Jesus. The Spirit empowers the church for witness, worship, and mission. We believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit, including prophecy, healing, tongues, interpretation, and all gifts described in Scripture, are active and available to the body of Christ today. We welcome all expressions of the Spirit’s work that are consistent with Scripture and submitted to its authority. We hold these convictions together across our team’s diverse expressions of faith, from covenant theology to charismatic practice, in a spirit of mutual honour and unity.

9. The Trinity

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each fully and equally God, distinct in person yet one in essence and purpose. The Trinity is not a theological puzzle to be solved but a mystery to be received. It is the foundation of all Christian faith, the source of all love, and the model for all genuine community.

10. The Church

We believe in the one holy, universal Church, comprising all who have been called by God and united to Christ by faith across every age, culture, and tradition. The Church is not a building or an organisation. It is a people. The church is expressed locally in gathered communities of believers who worship together, share their lives, practice the sacraments, and pursue each other’s growth in love. We affirm the beautiful diversity of the body of Christ across denominations, expressions, and traditions, united by the common confession that Jesus is Lord.

11. The Restoration of All Things

We believe the Biblical story ends not with destruction but with renewal. The death and resurrection of Jesus inaugurated a new creation, and His return will complete it. God will make all things new: restoring creation, raising the dead, and establishing a kingdom where justice, beauty, and shalom are fully and finally at home. Those who have trusted in Christ will enjoy eternal life in His presence. Those who have rejected Him will face eternal separation from God. We hold this hope as the anchor of our faith. This future shapes our present. The creativity, faithfulness, and love we invest in our work and community now is not wasted; it participates in what God is doing to restore and renew all things.

PART TWO: THE HISTORIC CREEDS

The following creeds represent the unified confession of the Church across centuries. They are not additions to Scripture but summaries of what Scripture teaches. We receive them gratefully as our inheritance and affirm them together.

The Apostles’ Creed

One of the oldest summaries of Christian faith, used in the Church since the early centuries.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,

Creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit

and born of the Virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;

he descended to the dead.

On the third day He rose again;

He ascended into heaven,

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

From there He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic Church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting.

Amen.

The Nicene Creed

Affirmed at the Council of Nicaea (325 AD) and expanded at Constantinople (381 AD). The definitive statement of Trinitarian faith in the universal church.

We believe in one God,

the Father almighty,

maker of heaven and earth,

of all things visible and invisible.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,

the only Son of God,

eternally begotten of the Father,

God from God, Light from Light,

true God from true God,

begotten, not made,

of one being with the Father.

Through Him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation

He came down from heaven;

by the power of the Holy Spirit

He became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,

and was made man.

For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate;

He suffered death and was buried.

On the third day He rose again

in accordance with the Scriptures;

He ascended into heaven

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory

to judge the living and the dead,

and His kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,

who proceeds from the Father and the Son.

With the Father and the Son He is worshiped and glorified.

He has spoken through the Prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.

We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

We look for the resurrection of the dead,

and the life of the world to come.

PART THREE: COMMUNAL CONVICTIONS

The following sections address topics where the Church has sometimes disagreed on expression or application, but where we believe Scripture speaks with enough clarity that our community needs a shared posture. We hold these convictions with confidence and with charity toward those who may see things differently.

Marriage and Sexuality

We believe marriage is the covenant union of one man and one woman, instituted by God at creation (Genesis 2:24), affirmed by Jesus (Matthew 19:4–6), and celebrated throughout Scripture as a reflection of Christ’s faithful love for the church. We believe human sexuality is a gift from God. It is not a burden or a mistake, but one that is rightly expressed only within the covenant of marriage. Sexual intimacy outside of that covenant, in any form, falls outside of God’s design as revealed in Scripture. We also believe celibacy is an honoured calling and that the single life is not a lesser life. Jesus Himself was unmarried. The fullness of personhood and belonging in Christ is available to every person regardless of marital status.

We hold this conviction with love, not judgement. Every person in this community, whatever their background or current reality, is welcomed as someone made in the image of God and invited into genuine belonging. We are not a community that reduces people to their sexuality. We are a community centred on Jesus, and He is the one who defines us.

Women in Leadership

We believe women and men are created equally in the image of God sharing the same dignity, worth, and standing before Him. We also believe they share unique image-bearing distinctions. Through these distinctions men and women through the power of the Holy Spirit complement their respective gender to represent the complete image of God on earth; reflecting a biblical standard of interdependent harmonious relationship in the Kingdom of God here on earth. With those distinctions we believe that the office of Elder/Overseer/Pastor is reflected distinctly and exclusively for Men in 1 Timothy chapter 2. Glory Gather is not a church, it is a business/community that seeks to provide services and goods to better our neighbors. We ascend to this belief in order to distinguish ourselves in our beliefs but do not hold offices for Elders in our organization on the basis that this is not a Church. Men and women will often gather in our community spaces and stating this belief is for the guiding principle of mutual respect in Bible study spaces. We believe that in the Church men and women co-labor for the glory of God, therefore we choose to follow suit in Glory Gather.

We REJECT the following views based on this belief:

Elders get to dominate women and treat them as subservient.
All men in the Church/Glory Gather space are the spiritual heads of all women in the Church/Glory Gather space.
Women are less capable of leading, governing, or teaching the Bible than men.
Women cannot hold high-level leadership positions in the church or society (our co-founder is Sofia, she’s awesome!)
Women are forbidden to teach the gospel in every setting.

We AFFIRM the following views based on this belief:

Eldership is a call from God upon certain men, not the “top rung” of the “leadership ladder” in the Church.
Only men can hold the office of Elder/Overseer/Pastor.
Women can vocally lead in and contribute to the gathered congregation.
Women can fill any leadership level besides Elder/Pastor in the church and society.
Women can use their gifts of teaching and discipling outside of the worship gathering, in the facilitation of Bible studies, special classes, and conferences within Glory Gather where both men and women are present.

Vocation, Creativity, and the Glory of God

We believe that every aspect of human life, including music, art, and creative work, belongs to God and can be offered to him as an act of worship. Christians in the music industry are not serving a lesser calling. They are image-bearers, stewarding extraordinary gifts for the glory of God in culture, community, and the world. Glory Gather exists because the intersection of faith and creative vocation is not a distraction from the spiritual life; it is part of it. What we do with what God has given us is an act of faithfulness. We believe that discipling artists is discipling the Church, and that the songs, sounds, and stories that come from a community rooted in Christ have the power to reach places that sermons cannot.
