Bianca Silver, our For The Glory Artist of the Month for June, captivates with her chill, lyrical, and rhythmic sound, blending RnB, Singer/Songwriter, and Hip-Hop influences.

We talked to Bianca about her musical journey, inspirations, and how her faith shapes her music. She shared insights into her creative process, the challenges she's faced, and her vision for the future.

Despite being baptised at the age of 10, Bianca only recently made the decision to shift her focus from singing about things of the world to singing about Jesus. She mentions how being introduced to other spiritualities and experimenting with drugs and sexuality made her question her faith during her high school and college years.

"By the grace of God, though, I was encountered by the Holy Spirit and was immediately changed in 2023. l had been making music previously, but decided that I no longer wanted to make music for the world, but for Jesus and His kingdom instead."

Bianca finds inspiration from a variety of sources. Her musical inspirations include artists like Frank Ocean, Daniel Caesar, SZA, and Dominic Fike. In the Christian scene, she’s very inspired by Madison Ryann Ward.

Her music is deeply influenced by her faith and her desire to connect with others on their spiritual journeys. She finds inspiration in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-20) to spread the gospel, aiming to reach as many lost souls as possible through her music. Her walk with God fuels her creativity, as she feels compelled to be vulnerable and truthful, shedding light on the different aspects of the Christian journey.

“I feel like music is a great way to integrate Biblical truths into your day and to meditate on Scripture - kind of like modern-day Psalms that can reach the masses.”

One of our favourites, “57” was specifically inspired by a Scripture found in Psalm 57, which speaks of seeking refuge in God, “In the shadow of your wings, I'll find my refuge, I'll call on You”. Bianca chose a random Psalm to read and decided to turn some of the verses into a song.  Additionally, her song “Endless Love” references the passage in Matthew 14 where Peter walks on water as Jesus calls to him in the middle of the storm.

Her songwriting process varies each time she creates. “Sometimes it’s as simple as turning a prayer into a song by making it rhyme” and other times she listens to an instrumental produced by her collaborator and friend, KamiKwazi, and freestyles over it until she stumbles upon a melody or lyric she likes. We asked Bianca how she deals with writer’s block, Bianca says she usually just waits it out. While acknowledging that having a regiment might help, Bianca describes herself as a very go-with-the-flow person, who prefers not to force creativity. "In some ways, creativity is just as inevitable as writer’s block, and I know eventually something will give rise to that creative spark," she explains.

Bianca’s hopes for her listeners are sincere,

“I hope that listeners will take away the message that the Gospel is true and life-changing. I also hope that they will know they are not alone and that God’s love for them surpasses any and all of our mistakes.”

We asked Bianca what song she would listen to for eternity and she chose ‘Worthy of it All’ by Cece Winans.  If she could organize a Christian music festival the lineup would include Madison Ryann Ward, Sondae, Alex Jean, Cyfë, slimthewordsmith, Claudia Isaki, Tobi Adey, Haynza, ninan, Caleb Gordon, herself & KamiKwazi, Hulvey, Forrest Frank, Indie Tribe, Trip Lee, MUCH MORE, Sarah Juers, SSTEDI, Stephen Willo, aftrthght, J. Monty, Jonathan Ogden and many others within the Christian RnB/Indie/Soul scene. Many of these artists are featured in For the Glory playlists, reflecting the diverse and vibrant Christian music community that Bianca is proud to be a part of.

Looking ahead, Bianca Silver is excited to share a collection of songs created within the first year of her walk with Christ. Her album “Just Like That” is released today, June 7th. Be sure to listen and get ready for an inspiring musical journey of chill, lyrical and rhythmic sounds into Bianca’s heartfelt reflections on faith. After an exclusive early listen, we can’t help but highlight some For The Glory favourites from the new album, including “Back & Forth” and “Waves” . This album truly captures Bianca's uniqueness that will make you feel like you’re reading a modern-day psalm over an RnB beat.
